Apologies one last try

April 02, 2020 at 3:56 PM
Dear Campus Community,

Many of you are using the Respondus LockDown Browser to administer your online exams. There may be some confusion on why the LockDown Browser sets a password for your exam and if you should be giving this password to your students.

When you enable the LockDown Browser for use on an exam, the LockDown Browser will automatically assign a random password to your exam that will appear in your exam settings, similar to the one in the image below. This random password should not be given to your students. This password is put in place by the Respondus LockDown Browser so that if your students attempt to take the exam in a browser other than the LockDown Browser, they will not be allowed to start the exam. If you give your students this password they will be able to take your exam without the LockDown Browser.

If your students are asking you for a password for the exam, then they are receiving the message below and are attempting to take the exam in another browser other than the LockDown Browser.

If your students are receiving the error above, please remind them that they must open the LockDown Browser and use it to complete the exam. If they do not have the LockDown Browser, they will need to download it from the IT website here https://uca.edu/it/services/instructional-technology/respondus-lockdown-browser/

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email desupport@uca.edu or submit a ticket on TDX at http://uca.edu/go/itsupport/
