Blackboard files not opening

November 15, 2021 at 11:47 AM
Dear Campus Community,

On Friday, November 12, IT reported an issue regarding files in Blackboard not opening for some users. The problem has been identified as the Edge browser that Microsoft updated during the same time frame Blackboard pushed out its update last week.

Edge users can turn off the setting that allows files to open in the browser, or they can use another browser.

To turn off the setting in Edge, please do the following:
1. Click on the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner of the browser
2. Select Settings
3. Click on Downloads
4. Toggle the "Open office files in the browser" setting to OFF.

Here is a link to the Microsoft Edge release page
